The Sustainable Hospitality Challenge is a Hotelschool The Hague initiative that aims to enhance the evolution of sustainable hospitality. Established as a platform that challenges innovative hospitality approaches for the last seven years, SHC has evolved into a global knowledge-based initiative.
Our mission is to drive innovation to preserve the sustainability of our world and our industry, through empowering the next generation of hospitality leaders to further push the boundaries of innovation and to create value-added solutions.

Our Challenge proudly brings together a diverse and global community of participants who share a common passion and goal for sustainability. Hailing from various corners of the world, including Europe, America, Asia, Australia, and Africa, our participants come from a wide array of backgrounds, contributing unique perspectives to our initiative. Among them are top achievers in their respective fields, demonstrating exceptional dedication and commitment to driving positive change in the hospitality industry. Despite their diverse origins and experiences, they are united by a shared vision of creating a more sustainable world. During its years of activity, SHC has collaborated with some ot the most reputable CEOs of the Hospitality Industry, who , from competition to competition, were asked to judge the project proposals.
Universities, hospitality corporations, public and private investors and venture capitalists: SHC’s network is made up of some of the most prestigious hospitality professionals from around the world.
NEOM is a new vision of what the future could be. It’s an attempt to do something that’s never been done before and it’s coming at a time when the world needs fresh thinking and new solutions. Simply put, NEOM will be a destination, a home for people who dream big and want to be part of building a new model for sustainable living, working and prospering.
Hotelschool The Hague was founded in 1929, making it one of the oldest independent hotel schools in the world. Since 1929, Hotelschool The Hague has been renowned for its education and innovative research and is ranked among the Top 5 Hospitality Management Schools in the World. The school has two campuses, one in The Hague and one in Amsterdam with over 2900 students and 200 employees. Since 2014 Hotelschool The Hague has been the best public Hotelschool in the Netherlands, according to the Dutch National Student Survey. Hotelschool The Hague offers the best Master in Business Administration in the Netherlands, according to Keuzegids Master 2019. Graduates of Hotelschool The Hague occupy leading positions in the hospitality industry all over the world.

The Sustainable Hospitality Alliance brings together engaged hospitality companies and uses the collective power of the industry to deliver impact locally and on a global scale. They work with leading hospitality companies and strategic partners to address key challenges affecting our planet and its people, and develop free practical resources and programmes to enable the wider industry to operate responsibly and grow sustainably. Their members make up 25% of the global hotel industry by rooms and include 14 world-leading hotel companies with a combined reach of over 30,000 properties and 4.5 million rooms.
